Cheryl Edwards is a Melbourne based glass artist. In 2003 she graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Glass from Monash University. She became enamoured with the Murrini technique while studying glass at university and loved the complexities of colours and patterns she could create. In 2021 she built her studio at home and since then has developed and refined her glass techniques. Her fluid open vessels juxtapose meticulous building of patterns with soft natural forms.

About

I became captivated with the Murrini process while studying glass at University. I have always been a vessel maker and have spent a long time refining my glass techniques and exploring the connections between form and decoration. My work is characterised by a combination of pattern and colours and the fluidity of the glass. I am captivated by every aspect of my practice and every part of that process is important to the final work. Every piece that I make inspires me to make the next. Murrini offers me infinite combinations of intricate patterns to draw upon, and I find it self sustaining. I want to spend the rest of my life honing my craft and mastering the extraordinary material glass!
